Milan Travel Diary

{Duomo di Milano}

I was saddened to know we were going to miss Milan Fashion Week by a few days. It would have been the icing on the cake, but regardless of this, we made the most of our short time there. Being the fashion capital of the world, Milan is renowned for fabulous shopping (and ridiculously expensive prices). Galleria Vittorio was beautiful – I couldn’t help but marvel at its domed ceiling and marble floors. If you’ve got a spare 30 minutes or so, head over to Cioccolatitaliani, aka chocolate heaven. Delicious waffle cones with luscious gelati, molten chocolate, Nutella and a mourish wafer; what more could a girl want?! We visited a lot of cathedrals on our travels, but the duomo in Milan was seriously gorgeous – I fell in the love with its tiled floors. Making the climb up top was a big one, but the views of the city beyond made up for it.

  1. The Duomo looks absolutely majestic! I've always loved Italian architecture and it typifies elegant beauty. The tiles look exquisitely done as well. The close up with the sculptures and friezes are just stunning. The Arco, on the other hand, made me reminiscent of other arches like the Brandenburg in Berlin, which are equally powerful and imposing. Thank you so much for sharing those wonderful pictures of Milano!
