Lemon Macarons with Orange Buttercream

It’s hard to think of a cuter dessert than the French macaron. This past weekend, we made our very own batch after never having attempted making them before. We’re not going to lie and say they were easy, and in fact, they posed quite a difficulty to first-timers such as ourselves. Though, they came out with that signature crunch and chewy middle, and the lemon and orange flavours complemented each other deliciously. Despite our first batch completely going wrong, the second turned out much better, and the results were particularly adorable; we highly recommend Donna Hay’s step-by-step iPad tutorial for basic macarons. We made a simple lemon sorbet to accompany the dessert, which was the perfect addition.
